Job Description
Leonardo Electronics UK (LEUK) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Support Engineer to work within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) Rotary Wing Delivery Team (RW DT). This team provides availability and technical support to the Ministry of Defence (MoD). The role focuses on providing technical support for LEUK’s Avionics equipment, primarily based at the customer’s Main Operating Base for Royal Navy Merlin Helicopters in Helston, Cornwall, with some home working possible.
What You’ll Do As The Senior Support Engineer
- Work directly with the customer and industry partners at Helston, under the management of the RW IOS Team based in Yeovil. Establishing and maintaining good relationships is essential.
- Provide technical support and recommendations on modification standards, component part numbers, maintenance operations, and support equipment for Rotary Wing avionics systems.
- Coordinate Leonardo’s workshare technical queries and fault investigations, ensuring all actions are completed.
- Identify reliability trends and suggest enhancements; seek opportunities to reduce service delivery costs through innovation and continuous improvement.
- Support testing of aircraft systems at Customer Main Operating Bases as directed.
- Identify and manage updates to Technical Publications and close unsatisfactory feature reports.
- Contribute to Support Policy reviews and ILS activities, providing recommendations.
- Liaise daily with the Customer to understand emerging issues and communicate with the RW DT via the Technical Support Officer.
- Support the IOS supply chain, Range Manager, and Component Maintenance Facility Manager.
- Provide inputs to project reports and support wider business activities as directed.
- Participate in training and development, adhering to company processes, quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Additional Qualifications:
- Background in avionics engineering, preferably in Rotary Wing.
- Experience in a Military Aviation Authority regulated environment.
- Knowledge of engineering management systems like GOLD Esp, Resolve, Serena TQS, UK NCB CSIS.
- Ability to produce technical reports, presentations, and spreadsheets professionally.
- Knowledge of MoD Supply Chain Management system (MJDI).
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interfacing skills with all levels of authorities and industry, including leading meetings.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and IT skills with a proactive attitude.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Full UK driver’s license and willingness to travel within the UK.
