Role Overview:
This is a pivotal role for a proactive and experienced professional to independently lead and enhance the firm’s compliance framework. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and fostering a robust culture of compliance within the organisation.
This opportunity is ideal for a confident self-starter who thrives on building and shaping a function. While existing AML processes are well-established, this role requires a proactive individual to significantly build out data protection policies, stay ahead of SRA legislation, and ensure seamless compliance across all areas. You’ll be the firm’s primary contact for all compliance inquiries, expected to confidently engage with senior partners and manage their expectations.
We’re seeking someone intellectually curious who enjoys being visible and collaborative.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive compliance policies and procedures across the firm.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for all compliance-related inquiries and issues, providing expert guidance.
- Conducting regular and engaging compliance training sessions for attorneys and staff.
- Monitoring and assessing compliance with AML, SRA, and data protection regulations, proactively ensuring the firm remains current with legislative changes.
- Managing the compliance aspects of new matters, including conducting thorough risk assessments and due diligence.
- Taking ownership of SRA renewals and chasing individuals for compliance.
- Collaborating effectively with internal teams and external counsel on complex compliance matters.
What our client is looking for:
- Significant experience in compliance management, ideally from a law firm or financial services environment.
- Strong understanding of UK compliance regulations, including AML, SRA, and data protection laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage directly with senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- A proactive and “roll up your sleeves” attitude, willing to handle day-to-day tasks.
- A legal background is preferred, with a solicitor qualification being advantageous but not mandatory.
What the firm offers:
- A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, pension, and travel insurance.
- A collaborative and supportive work environment with ample opportunities for professional development.
- Flexible working arrangements, with a requirement of four days in the office and the option to work from home one day (preferably Friday).
- The rare opportunity to build out a new and critical function within the London office.
- A discretionary annual bonus, paid in July. New hires will be eligible for the bonus starting July 2026.
