Salary: Dependent on experience

Contract Type: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English to lead a dynamic English department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5, supporting staff development, and driving student achievement. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated leader to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  2. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English lessons.
  3. Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  4. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  5. Support and mentor English teachers within the department.
  6. Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement curriculum strategies.
  7. Promote a love of literature and language across the school community.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching English at secondary level, including KS5.
  • Previous leadership or middle management experience is desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
