A little more about your role…
The Chemical Compliance team comprises professional scientists and experts on chemical and related regulations. WSP’s team is mainly UK-based and collaborates with other WSP groups worldwide to deliver projects in various countries.
Most projects involve securing chemical registrations for WSP’s clients in the UK, EU, or internationally. While primarily desk-based, travel may be required for client meetings, negotiations, site audits, or training sessions.
Our clients are international, spanning the chemical and technology industries, including healthcare, specialty chemicals, cosmetics, and automotive manufacturing. This diversity requires tailored delivery solutions, such as supply chain management or alternative testing methods like NAMs and QSAR to meet REACH regulation requirements.
This role reports to the Chemical Compliance Technical Director and is ideal for an experienced professional aiming for a senior leadership position.
The team has grown significantly over the past year and continues to expand as chemical regulations evolve, particularly UK REACH and EU REACH 2.0. Join us to deliver high-quality projects to a diverse client base.
- Deliver technical work related to chemical regulations, especially REACH and CLP.
- Manage projects effectively to meet client expectations.
- Provide technical expertise within chemical regulation and related areas.
- Stay updated with regulatory developments to maintain high service standards and identify growth opportunities.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Experience in chemical regulation with a degree in toxicology, chemistry, life sciences, or environmental science.
- Knowledge of UK and EU chemical regulations, particularly REACH, CLP, and BPR. Experience with international chemical legislation or downstream regulations (food contact, RoHS, WEEE) is desirable.
- Experience as a study monitor for REACH Annex testing packages. Knowledge of read-across, QSAR, or NAMs is a plus.
- Significant experience in a professional environment (government, industry, or consultancy) working within chemical regulation.
- Strong commercial acumen and client management skills.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and management levels within client organizations and at industry events.
- Proficiency in software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and chemical regulation tools like IUCLID, CHESAR, QSAR.
