Permanent Teacher of English (Mainly KS4) – Outstanding Southampton School (English Department)

An outstanding school in Southampton is seeking a passionate and dedicated Permanent Teacher of English to join our thriving English Department. This role will primarily focus on delivering engaging and effective lessons at Key Stage 4 (GCSE), inspiring a love of language and literature while ensuring excellent student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English Language and Literature lessons primarily to Key Stage 4 students.
  • Foster a deep appreciation for reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, preparing students for GCSE success.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a rigorous and engaging KS4 English curriculum.
  • Assess and monitor student progress at GCSE, providing effective feedback and targeted support to maximize achievement.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the English Department to share best practices and resources for KS4 teaching.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong degree in English Language, Literature, or a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to teach engaging English lessons at Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is essential.
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the GCSE English Language and Literature specifications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills, with a focus on motivating students towards GCSE success.
