JOB TITLE: Student Engagement Officer – Chelsea Champion

DEPARTMENT: Chelsea Foundation

CONTRACT: Permanent, Full Time, 5 of 7 days (including evenings and weekends)

JOB FUNCTION: To be the central point of contact for Chelsea FC Foundation within Fulham Cross Academy. Delivering pastoral, wellbeing and diversionary activities that aim to enhance emotional wellbeing and build resilience in young people, using universal, targeted, and individual interventions.

PLAY YOUR PART (Main Responsibilities):

  • Deliver a range of pastoral, wellbeing, sports and diversionary activities within the Community and Academic timetables, leading on a variety of leadership programmes, including provision outside of term time, during evening and weekends.
  • To work closely with staff at Fulham Cross Academy, coordinating the delivery of all Chelsea Champions projects, in line with the requirements set out by the funding providers.
  • To act as a mentor for young people, providing support, and signposting to advice and guidance services for any pupil in need of expert care.
  • Deliver several schemes of work for the personal development of pupils and families at Fulham Cross Academy including the development of a youth forum, peer mentoring and family engagement schemes.
  • Sit on a Chelsea Champion Forum, led by the Senior Chelsea Champion Officer, collaborating with each Chelsea Champion and lead school staff member to develop a series of initiatives to support young people’s emotional wellbeing and resilience.
  • To demonstrate and live by the club’s values; Here to Win, Be Brave, Do the Right Thing, Play Your Part, Many Teams, One Club and Proud to Be Chelsea
  • To adhere to the Foundation’s policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Financial Authorisation, Confidentiality and GDPR.
  • To act as an ambassador for diversity, equality, and inclusion, and demonstrate a positive commitment by treating others fairly in line with our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy and reporting any acts of discrimination through appropriate channels
  • To create a safe environment and act to protect all young people and vulnerable adults that are either in your care or attending club premises, and report any concerns to the Safeguarding Lead
  • To report any misconduct or suspected misconduct to the HR Department

HERE TO WIN (Measures of Performance):

  • To be a positive role model, creating a safe, positive, and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage young people to succeed and develop.
  • To build relationships where possible and relevant with local schools, clubs, authorities, key community partners, youth services and mental health charities.
  • To lead on the monitoring and evaluation for all Chelsea Champion projects at Fulham Cross Academy in accordance with the needs of each funder, including liaison with the Premier League Charitable Fund as a ‘Salesforce’ user.
  • Be responsible for the safeguarding of young people on the Chelsea Champions programme at Fulham Cross Academy, liaising with the Safeguarding Lead for all Chelsea Champions Schools and associated partner Safeguarding Team’s to ensure a clear line of reporting to CFC Safeguarding Hub.
  • Ensure success stories are captured through working with Chelsea FC Foundation/Chelsea FC media staff.

PROUD TO BE CHELSEA (Person Specification):

Qualifications:

  • Teaching or mentoring Qualifications.
  • Level 2 Sports Coaching Qualification, Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Children Certificates.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in working within a school or youth work setting.
  • Ability to build a strong rapport with pupils.
  • Some knowledge of community engagement programmes specifically tailored to secondary school aged pupils.
  • Knowledge of the Chelsea FC Foundation.
  • Knowledge of local demographic and social needs.
  • Experience of coordinating Sessional Staff & Volunteers.
  • Knowledge of PLCF and PLPFA funded projects.
  • Knowledge of Community Club Organisations and Football Charity Programmes.
