I have been engaged by a leading Insurance company who are seeking a senior legal leader to head their Commercial Contracts Team and provide strategic, high-quality legal support across a broad range of commercial matters. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, commercially minded individual to make a real impact across their UK and international operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

As the Head of Commercial Contracts, you will:

  • Lead and manage the Commercial Contracts Team, including Senior Counsel, Counsel, and Paralegals.
  • Drive strategic efficiency by developing self-service solutions and tools for the business.
  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial law matters, including insurance agreements, client service contracts, NDAs, TOBAs, IP, privacy, and employment-related legal support.
  • Oversee contract drafting and negotiation across multiple domains: IT, procurement, marketing, data protection, and more.
  • Support innovation and compliance, including contributions to training, policy development, and legal risk management across the business.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to proactively manage legal risk and support commercial decision-making.

  • Delegated underwriting and London Market agreements
  • IP, privacy/GDPR, and data protection law
  • Consultancy and supply agreements
  • SaaS and technology contracts
  • Global partnership and referral agreements
  • Employment and IR35 consultancy contracts
  • Contentious and non-contentious legal queries

What We’re Looking For

We’re after someone who combines strong legal acumen with commercial instinct. You’ll need:

  • Significant experience in commercial contracts, gained in-house or in private practice
  • Insurance law and London Market knowledge
  • Leadership experience, with a proven ability to develop and manage teams
  • Outstanding communication, drafting, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in IP, data privacy (UK/EU GDPR), and cross-border legal matters
  • A flexible, collaborative approach with a passion for continuous improvement
