At Hatch we are hiring Research Consultants for our Urban Solutions team in London and Manchester. Our Urban Solutions Team sits within our Consultancy business unit and is the economics, urban planning and real estate strategy arm of Hatch, delivering strategiceconomic development services to public and private clients. In the UK our Urban Solutions team worksclosely with our Environmental and Advisory groups, and the successful candidates will be encouraged towork on projects in these other divisions as well as Urban Solutions.

As a Graduate Research Consultant you will work as part of high-performing teams delivering innovative solutions to private and publicsector clients. Recent projects have included supporting Aviva Investors to develop an innovative socialvalue framework, an urban regeneration business case for Liverpool, and an impact assessment of Transport for London’s supply chain.

Our team works on a range of interesting, innovative, and inspiring consultancy projects,across sectors including employment, industrial sectors, skills, innovation, infrastructure, energy, land and property, culture, leisure and tourism.
Specifically, you will work in an integrated team making a vital contribution to the evidence, insights andadvice we provide, with responsibilities including collecting and analysing economic and social data,reviewing policy and research, supporting project consultations, active participation in client, stakeholder,and team meetings, survey design, mapping, and economic and social impact modelling.

Our consultants and analysts support our clients by:
- Shaping the agenda: We provide forward thinking insights on city futures and place-making, working onstrategies, visions, investment and delivery plans.
- Justifying investment: We support our clients to secure investment in projects by preparingbusiness cases and economic appraisals.
- Delivering and measuring impacts: We support our clients to implement their programmes and understand their impacts through social value andeconomic impact assessments.
- Reviewing what works: We identify lessons to improve performance and increase impactsthrough the evaluation of programmes, projects and organisations.
We are looking for an ideal candidate with:
- A real appetite for understanding economic, social, environmental and technological change andhow this will affect the future
- A keen interest in leveraging technology and using intelligence, data and analysis to help our clients make informed choicesabout strategy and investment
- A strong desire to learn and develop new skills and knowledge, and to test themselves in adynamic consultancy environment
- Enthusiasm for working as part of diverse consultancy teams with colleagues in the UK andinternationally.
Ideally, you will have:
- A degree, probably in subject areas such as economics, geography and planning, development/international development, social research and public policy, data science and analytics etc
- Strong numeric and analytical skills including geospatial methods
- Effective writing, presentation and project management skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work proactively, problem solve and think through complex questions
- Collaborate on excitingprojects to develop innovative solutions
