What Is the Opportunity?We are seeking an Underwriter to support our underwriting leaders in managing the profitability of the Marine Cargo book by underwriting new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments, while monitoring rate adequacy.

Travelers Europe offers a hybrid work model, allowing employees to work three days in the office and two days remotely, subject to policy changes.

This role is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with potential referral bonuses as well.

What Will You Do?

  • Support profitability, growth, and retention of the Marine Cargo line.
  • Ensure business compliance with company policies, Lloyd’s standards, and audit requirements.
  • Develop target business strategies by researching industry and economic factors.
  • Utilize systems for accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Gather data and prepare reports supporting underwriting policies.
  • Monitor market and global affairs for new opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with agents, brokers, and customers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality service and maintain records of transactions.
  • Continuously seek personal and business improvements.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Experience in Lloyd’s market preferred; underwriting experience advantageous.
  • Degree preferred.
  • Technical proficiency and sound decision-making skills.
  • Intermediate skills in relationship management, analytical thinking, and technical knowledge.
  • Studying towards ACII qualification is expected.

What is a Must Have?

  • Experience in Property and Casualty insurance, in underwriting, operations, or brokerage.
  • Secondary education or equivalent.
