We are seeking a skilled and empathetic individual to join our student support team. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, supporting students’ emotional wellbeing, and contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to secondary school students experiencing behavioural challenges, both individually and in small groups.
- Conduct assessments of students’ social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- Develop and implement tailored behaviour support plans in collaboration with school staff, students, and families.
- Offer strategies and interventions to de-escalate challenging situations and promote positive behaviour choices.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of whole-school approaches to behaviour management and mental health awareness.
- Liaise with external agencies and professionals as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reports.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in mental health, social work, counselling, education, or a related field.
- Proven experience of providing behaviour support to young people, ideally within a secondary school environment.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and effective behaviour management techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
- Specific training in behaviour management approaches (e.g., Team Teach, Positive Behaviour Support).
- Experience delivering group work or training sessions.
- Knowledge of the local Blackpool context and support services.
