Job Summary

The NHS Counter Fraud Authority (NHSCFA) is the national body responsible for all matters relating to the prevention, detection and investigation of economic crime across the NHS. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a career in countering fraud to join the Fraud Prevention Team at the NHSCFA. The Fraud Prevention Officer will work as part of a team whose joint remit is to ensure the organisation constantly looks ahead for the successful creation and delivery of fraud prevention interventions. The Fraud Prevention Officer will provide support in the development, implementation and maintenance of the NHSCFA’s Fraud Prevention Guidance. They will also have a role in the delivery of key projects and horizon scanning activity to identify new and emerging threats.

Contract Details

Please note this role is a Fixed Term Role until end of September 2025.

Main Duties of the Job

  • To contribute to the agreed plan of activity that will drive forward the unit work in meeting the organisational strategic objectives.
  • Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the NHSCFA Fraud Prevention guidance.
  • Delivering specific areas of fraud prevention work as directed by the Senior Fraud Prevention Officer.
  • Acting as a point of contact for enquiries relating to fraud prevention solutions.
  • To use their judgement and knowledge to ensure queries are answered appropriately or the enquiry is passed to the correct area of business.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of standards relating to fraud prevention and the location of fraud prevention solutions within NHSCFA information library.
  • Actively and constantly review materials already in existence for currency and application in the changing environment of a dynamic NHS.
  • Ensure effective delivery of assigned work packages to ensure achievement of service objectives.

Person Specification

Knowledge And Experience Essential

  • Experience drafting material for use at organisational level and working within a high-level guidance and information drafting setting.
  • IT literacy with knowledge of generic software packages.

Specialist Knowledge Essential

  • Knowledge of criminal and civil legislation as it relates to economic crime activities.
  • In depth knowledge of document drafting and production.
  • Capable of conducting research in a guidance setting.

Qualifications Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a related subject.

Desirable

  • Post-graduate level or equivalent in a relevant field.

Communication Skills Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and behaviours demonstrating an ability to liaise effectively within organisations.
  • Demonstrable understanding and track record in promoting equal opportunities and diversity.
