The Royal Marsden Hospital is Europe’s largest Oncology centre with sites in Chelsea and Sutton. The Department of Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT and Radioisotope Therapy is looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join our team on the Chelsea site. The successful candidate will manage the Chelsea department and work very closely with the Radioisotope Service Manager. The candidate will be expected to support both the service and its staff in continuing to maintain and develop the highest standards of imaging. The position will be at our Chelsea site.
Key Responsibilities:
- To possess a distinct level of responsibility in providing a comprehensive service for Nuclear Medicine.
- The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the Nuclear Medicine Service.
- To work closely with the Radioisotope Service Lead, Deputy Service Leads, Nuclear Medicine consultants and all Nuclear Medicine staff.
- The post holder will work closely with Sutton Deputy Service Leads, working collaboratively and interchangeably as they will need to cross cover on holidays and other absences supporting each other.
- The post-holder will liaise with a variety of staff throughout the Trust, including wards and theatres and with those from other NHS trusts. The key working relationships in the department will be with the imaging, medical, clerical and nursing staff.
- The post holder will have considerable patient contact, including contact with the terminally ill. Patient presentation will include the unconscious, incapacitated, confused and those with physical and mental disabilities.
- To manage shifts according to the workload with the guidance of the Radioisotope Service Manager.
- To provide clinical management to all the Nuclear Medicine staff.
- To possess enough knowledge about Radiation Protection to provide support to other departments and other professionals.
