Year 6 Teaching Assistant – Full-Time – Summer Term – Bedfont Area

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for helping children reach their full potential? Do you have strong literacy and numeracy skills and experience supporting upper Key Stage 2 learners? A welcoming primary school in the Bedfont area of Hounslow is seeking a confident and capable Year 6 Teaching Assistant to join them for the full summer term, starting as soon as possible.

This is a full-time position, working closely with the class teacher to provide both in-class support and run targeted literacy and numeracy interventions for pupils preparing for the end of Key Stage 2.

About the Role:

  • Position: Year 6 General Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Bedfont, Hounslow

  • Start Date: Summer Term – ASAP start

  • Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (term time only)

  • Focus: In-class support & small group interventions (literacy & numeracy)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Year 6 pupils during whole-class teaching, particularly in English and Maths

  • Leading targeted intervention groups to reinforce key concepts and build pupil confidence

  • Helping pupils develop their SATs readiness through focused academic support

  • Assisting with classroom organisation, behaviour management, and learning resources

  • Liaising regularly with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt support as needed

  • Creating a nurturing, positive and motivating learning environment

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Prior experience working in KS2 (ideally Year 6)

  • Excellent written and spoken English and solid numeracy skills

  • The ability to deliver and adapt intervention sessions independently

  • A calm, proactive and flexible approach

  • Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (desirable but not essential)
