Head of History
We are seeking an exceptional Head of History to lead our History department and drive outstanding outcomes for our students. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the curriculum and pedagogy, ensuring that teaching and learning in History at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 is of the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the History department, setting a clear vision and strategy for continuous improvement.
- Ensure that students’ outcomes in History are consistently good to outstanding.
- Support and develop the teaching and learning of History across the school.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the History department, identifying areas for development.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to History teachers, helping them to enhance their practice.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, promoting the value of History and enriching the curriculum.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience of teaching History at secondary level.
- Proven track record of leading a successful History department.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for History.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
Desirable Qualities:
- Experience of leading curriculum development and innovation in History.
- Evidence of driving improvements in student outcomes.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
