Job OverviewThe Group Director of Nursing is a key senior leadership role within the organisation. The Group Director of Nursing role has responsibility for quality and patient experience and takes a lead on ensuring our governance structures are working well. This role requires an active UK NMC Registration. Location: Royal Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Hospitals.

Detailed Job Description And Main ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this role is to provide senior strategic nursing leadership in order to consistently develop and deliver a high quality, cost-effective nursing service for patients, assuring the provision of safe, effective and evidence-based care within an agreed quality, performance and financial framework. The post holder will support the Chief Nursing Officer leading the development of the nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals and healthcare scientist agendas within the Trust.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential criteria

  • Registered Nurse; First degree diploma, or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience working within the acute sector of the NHS at a senior nurse level.
  • A Masters level qualification in nursing, a post graduate qualification or equivalent.

Desirable criteria

  • Senior Leadership Training programme.

ExperienceEssential criteria

  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions to address them.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands.

Desirable criteria

  • Previous strategic experience.

Personal AttributesEssential criteria

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with good listening skills.
  • High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
