Responsibilities
• To handle a portfolio of Reinsurance Treaty and Facultative Property and Casualty claims arising from Excess of Loss, Proportional Treaty and Facultative business written by Berkley Re UK (BRUK).
• To ensure claims are managed proactively and efficiently in accordance with the prevailing business, legal and regulatory environment.
Principle Responsibilities
- To assess policy coverage and liability for all claims notifications received.
- To manage and settle claims arising on policies written by BRUK ensuring accurate reserve calculations and managing cross market exposures.
- To action Class/ECF and Direct claims advices, process treaty statements and deal with cash calls, expediently and within internal KPI’s, minimum standards and market expectation.
- Provide high quality commentary on relevant movements, highlighting significant notifications, claims trends or developments.
- To undertake Claims Audits/Reviews of Service Providers and other third parties as required.
- To develop and maintain good working relationships with the Underwriting, Actuarial and Finance Teams.
- To review and maintain internal databases with relevant claims data.
- To ensure accuracy of data contained within claims system.
- To comply with relevant company procedures and policies.
- To act in accordance with BRUK Claims philosophy.
- To contribute to enhancements and modifications to claims processes and systems to generate sustained improvement.
- To liaise, as required, in all matters relating to Compliance reporting.
Qualifications
- Previous experience of Reinsurance claims handling in the London Market.
- A strong background in Casualty claims essential.
- Experience of dealing with Property claims preferable.
- A good working knowledge of Class/ECF2.
- Ability to manage time, manage projects, meet deadlines and prioritise effectively.
- Ability to communicate and explain complex issues clearly and succinctly.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as work on own initiative.
